This RARE 1905 Photo Book commemorates the Cruise of eight hundred North American Protestant Sunday School leaders to Palestine aboard the German Lloyd steamer "Grosser Kurfurst" in 1905. The group held a World Sunday School Convention in Jerusalem, hosted by American missionaries. Along the way they visited Mediterranean tourist sites associated with the Apostle Paul and in Palestine visited many sites associated with the Jewish and Christian Scriptures. Several delegates served as photographers, chronicling the people and places they visited, and 280 of these photos are reproduced in black and white. These photos are accompanied by theological reflection by various members of the group. This is a fabulous historical source document, opening up a window on Palestinian life over a century ago. The overall condition is good. The cover is clean with little wear, the binding tight and pages clean and unmarked. Smoke free home. See photos carefully.
